Microsoft News - YuLong Telecommunication to Use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync

The mobile companies all over the world are always on the lookout to provide something unique to the users and retain them as long as possible. Now, YuLong Telecommunication of China has announced a patent licensing agreement with Microsoft (News - Alert) that allows the users to synchronize e-mails, calendars, contacts and notes between mobile devices and Microsoft Exchange Server.
YuLong Telecomunication will make use of Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, a synchronization protocol that is optimized to work together with high-latency and low-bandwidth networks. The protocol allows devices such as browser-enabled cellular telephones or Microsoft Windows Mobile powered devices access an organization's information on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange.
YuLong Telecomunication is now planning to release Coolpad brand handsets pre-installed with Microsoft direct push technology. The company is the largest Windows CE phone original equipment manufacturer in China. Already Exchange ActiveSync has been adopted by device licensees such as Apple Inc., ASUSTeK Computer Inc (News - Alert)., HTC Corp., Nokia Corp., Palm Inc., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., and Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB.
“Microsoft is committed to enhancing the consumer experience through intellectual property (IP) collaboration, and we believe this deal is an important step in continuing to work more collaboratively with companies in China to help deliver better products to consumers,” Steven Chen, senior director of Microsoft Business Division China, said.
The Exchange ActiveSync Patent Licensing Program makes it possible for customers, partners and competitors to access its IP portfolio and Microsoft has entered into more than 500 licensing agreements and continues to develop such programs.
Recently, DataViz (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of mobile office compatibility solutions, signed a partnership agreement with telecom solutions provider, Huawei, to incorporate their Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync client, RoadSync, and mobile Office suite, Documents To Go on the new Android (News - Alert)-basedT-Mobile Pulse - a handset manufactured by Huawei. Based on Exchange ActiveSync technology – licensed directly from Microsoft, RoadSync provides secure, wireless and direct push synchronization of corporate e-mail.
